Pecan Tassies | #ChristmasCookies

Jump to Recipe

These Pecan Tassies have been sponsored by Millican Pecan.   All opinions are my own.

These Pecan Tassies are little bites of Heaven in a buttery, flaky crust.  Reminiscent of mini pecan pies, this easy recipe will be the star of your cookie tray.

Pecan Tassies Cookie Recipe

I’ve loved Pecan Tassies since I was a little girl.

Our family friend would bring them over, each year on her cookie tray, and every year I would eat all of them.   And the cornflake wreaths.

I’ve never tried to make them myself until now and I’ve been missing out.

These pecan tassies are SUPER easy to make and take very little effort for such a tasty treat.

Pecan Tassies Cookie Recipe

This pecan tassie recipe uses cream cheese in the dough.

They remind me of little pecan pies.  The crust is buttery, flaky while remaining moist and delicious.

INGREDIENTS FOR PECAN TASSIES RECIPE:

  • All purpose flour
  • butter
  • cream cheese
  • egg
  • brown sugar
  • unsalted butter
  • vanilla extract
  • salt
  • Millican Pecans

Ingredients to make pecan tassies recipe

HOW TO MAKE EASY PECAN TASSIES

Into a medium bowl, add flour, butter and cream cheese.  Using a pastry blender or 2 forks, blend together until small crumbs form and then press together with your fingers to form dough.

pecan tassies dough with cream cheese

I measured my dough out and then divided by 24 so each one was even.  I came out to .42oz per dough ball

weigh the dough, on a food scale, for pecan tassies

I sprayed the mini muffin tin with cooking spray and press each dough ball into the cavities and slightly up the sides.

press pecan tassie dough into the well of a mini muffin tin

Next, into a medium bowl combine egg, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, salt and chopped pecans.

Pecan Tassies filling with brown sugar, pecans, butter, vanilla,

Spoon 1 teaspoon of filling into each cavity and bake in a 350 degree oven for 18-20 minutes or until lightly golden brown and filling is set.

spoon filling into pecan tassie dough with a teaspoon

Allow to cool completely before removing from pan.

CAN YOU FREEZE PECAN TASSIES

Yes, you can freeze pecan tassie dough or you can freeze baked pecan tassies.  Once the cookies have cooled, place them into an airtight container or a zip top freezer bag and place into the freezer.

Pecan tassie dough will last 2-3 months in the freezer when wrapped tightly with saran wrap and placed into a zip top bag.

Pecan tassies will last in the freezer for up to 2 months.

TIPS ON HOW TO MAKE SNICKERDOODLE COOKIES

  • Be careful not to place too much filling into the dough.  They’ll overflow.  I use a teaspoon to fill each cavity.
  • Allow pecan tassies to cool completely before removing from mini muffin tin.  It makes them so much easier to remove.
  • You can store pecan tassies in an air tight container at room temperature for up to one week.  Refrigerate pecan tassies for a longer shelf life of up to two weeks.

VARIATIONS ON PECAN TASSIES

I made a classic and easy pecan tassie recipe but you could

  • add melted chocolate into the pecan mixture.
  • Use cinnamon cream cheese for the dough
  • Add cinnamon into the pecan mixture.
  • Use both vanilla extract and bourbon into your pecan tassie mixture.

Adams Extract

Prize 2 – Adams Extract Prize Pack

Adams traces its beginnings back to Battle Creek, Michigan, when John A. Adams began making and selling his Green Plant Sarsaparilla extract, Adamur, in 1888. In 1905, he moved his family to Beeville, TX. At the time, most vanilla sold to pharmacies and was often labeled “Do not bake or freeze.” John A. Adams’ wife yearned for a flavoring that wouldn’t bake or freeze out. He announced that he could produce a better vanilla than the one his wife was currently using. Working with just $6.71 worth of materials on top of an old icebox, John A. Adams discovered the formula he wanted. To test this product, his wife whipped up a cake for the family to try. “John, this is the BEST flavoring I have ever used,” she announced. “Well, that’s old man Adams BEST,” he responded.
