Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups

Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups

It’s game day week around here if you haven’t noticed.  I’m back with another game day food and it’s another mash-up.

How about these Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese cups?  Oh yes, I combined a delicious sloppy joe sandwich, sans bun, with creamy, dreamy macaroni and cheese. Come.on.guys.

I don’t know about you but my favorite part of baking macaroni and cheese is the crispy parts around the edges and guess what?  When you bake macaroni and cheese in a muffin cups, there’s crispy bits all around.  Come to mama!

Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups

The game day recipes just keep coming but the good thing about them is they don’t only have to be made for game day.  These recipes are also perfect for get togethers, appetizers and family meals.

I decided to serve these Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups for dinner and my family gobbled them up.  I mean what isn’t to love here?  It’s two of their favorite meals combined into one.

Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups

I also happen to think these would be amazing for game day.  Your hungry game day fans will not be able to resist this classic mashup.

These Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups come together in a cinch thanks to RAGÚ® Old World Style Traditional spaghetti sauce and RAGÚ® Double Cheddar cheese sauce.

I used the RAGÚ® Old World Style Traditional spaghetti sauce in place of tomato sauce in the sloppy joe and the RAGÚ® Double Cheddar cheese sauce for the macaroni and cheese portion, which is absolutely delicious

Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups

No need to be intimidated by making 2 meals here either.  This entire recipe comes together in under 30 minutes.  It can easily be doubled as well so you can feed an entire crew.  And it only requires a few dishes!

Just look at that crispy edge on that Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups.  Holy mother of cheesy, beefy goodness.

Sloppy Joes and Macaroni and Cheese combine to make Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups. A childhood mashup of classics you won't be able to resist!

Ingredients

Sloppy Joes

  • 1lb (16 ounces) Ground Beef, (I used lean)
  • 1/2 cups, Onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup RAGÚ® Traditional Pasta Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tbsp(s), Worchestershire Sauce
  • 2 teaspoons mustard
  • 1 tablespoons brown sugar 

Macaroni and Cheese

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni noodles
  • 1 container (1 4/5 cups ea.) RAGÚ® Double Cheddar Cheese Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground, Pepper

Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Oil - Olive
  • 2 tablespoons, Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Shredded Mild Cheddar cheese

Instructions

Sloppy Joes

  1. In a medium skillet, brown ground beef with onion and garlic and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Stir in pasta sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and brown sugar and mix to combine

Macaroni and Cheese

  1. Boil macaroni noodles for 7 minutes. Drain.
  2. Add in double cheddar cheese sauce, ground mustard and pepper and stir to combine.

Sloppy Macaroni and Cheese Cups

  1. Preheat an oven to 425 degrees and spray a muffin tin thoroughly with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, combine sloppy joe mixture, 3 cups macaroni and cheese and 3 eggs.  Stir well.
  3. Using a 1/3 measure cup, portion out mixture and place into muffin tin.  Bake in oven for 15 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together panko breadcrumbs and oil.
  5. Remove cups and top with with 1/2 tablespoon shredded cheddar cheese and sprinkling of breadcrumbs.
  6. Place back into the oven for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool in pan slightly.  Run a knife around the edge of each muffin cup and gently remove from pan.

Notes

*I did have approximately 2/3 cup of leftover macaroni and cheese.
